Bushveld is a grassy region in the Limpopo and North West provinces that stretches to the borders of Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Because it is an arid region, Bushveld grasslands are often used for cattle grazing. The area is also home to rhinoceros, giraffes, impala and other species of game animals. There are also many primate species in the area, many of which can be observed at the Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park in Rust de Winter.
The region is also hilly, making it an excellent spot for mountain biking and more strenuous hiking. The Lindani Game Reserve in Vaalwater is a great spot for both, and the Skeurkrans Hiking Trails in Mookgophong (also known as Naboomspruit) are especially beautiful during the rainy season, when the grasslands are filled with flowers.
Kruger National Park near Phalaborwa is the largest in South Africa. Visitors here can enjoy great food at the Hat and Creek restaurant near the park entrance. Buffalo Pub and Grill also serves excellent food.
